“Material Balance”

The striking double-height ceiling immediately draws the eye in this unique loft, where materials lead the narrative—wood, stone, resin, steel, and glass interlace to create a sophisticated, detail-rich environment.

Wood is the undisputed protagonist. On the floor, natural oak contrasts with canaletto walnut, used across vertical surfaces to form a concealed door, custom cabinetry, and a built-in wall unit. Ten cantilevered oak shelves lead to the mezzanine sleeping area, where whitewashed fir flooring evokes Japanese culture. A tatami base supports the bed, crafting a serene, minimalist atmosphere.

Stone is the material core of the project, meticulously selected in Antolini’s stoneroom. Various finishes blend in harmony:

Crema Marfil and Sahara Noir, in a honed finish, offer a refined contrast in the pivot entrance door framed between two glass panels.

Elegant Brown defines both a fireplace and a parquet platform demarcating the kitchen and a partial-height divider.

Trani Stone, honed and brushed, becomes the kitchen countertop.

Corteccia, with a leather finish, shapes the bar’s counter and curved front, reduced to just 5 mm thickness and backlit for a dramatic rear-bar effect.

Magic Black, also in a leather finish, sculpts a bold freestanding washbasin, the focal point of the bathroom.

Resin and microcement, hand-applied with a spatula in a cement-grey tone, coat the bathroom walls, lending a tactile and modern finish.
Steel, understated yet structural, supports the mezzanine, anchors the entrance door, and holds up mirrored glass panels concealing a spacious walk-in wardrobe.

Glass, transparent and versatile, plays a leading role in the staircase design, reflects through the windows, and forms the custom mirror system in the dressing area. On the dining table, glass defines the surface and clads a storage wall with hidden access panels. Above, a sculptural chandelier in rose gold, yellow and white defines the dining zone.

Outdoors, the veranda features a solid oak table and a natural tuff wall. The pool, purposefully overlaid, is finished in wood-effect porcelain stoneware with a walnut tone. A cascading infinity edge creates a relaxing soundscape, while the outdoor stone pavers (chianche) are interspersed with synthetic grass for a soft natural feel with contemporary style.
